The $5/Point Pay for Points SAT Program

Most mass market SAT courses assume that a student’s intelligence and knowledge are fixed. Thus, rather than attempting to develop intelligence and knowledge, these courses teach test taking strategies that help students make the most of their current abilities. This allows for modest, and ultimately limited, improvement. Students in these courses learn methods to improve their odds of guessing correctly, but never learn to solve difficult problems efficiently, flawlessly, and confidently. They do not develop their cognitive abilities to a higher level, build their intellectual foundations, or address any major cognitive deficits that lead to unnecessarily low SAT scores.

Since its inception in 2002 Arvin Vohra Education (AVE), has approached SAT training from a dramatically different perspective. AVE’s approach moves beyond simplistic test-taking strategies by systematically developing knowledge and intelligence. This approach uses longterm, intensive training to develop analytical reading, logical, and mathematical cognitive abilities. Because AVE’s SAT approach fundamentally develops verbal and math abilities, it has not only helped students dramatically improve their SAT scores, but has also lead to substantial improvements in academic performance.

Because of this approach, AVE’s tutoring services are among the most sought after educational programs in the Washington, DC area. However, with rates of $200/ hour and waiting lists that have been several months long during peak seasons, AVE’s elite tutoring services are not appropriate for all situations.

AVE’s new Pay for Points Program allows students in any situation to access AVE’s longterm, intensive SAT training approach.

  You only pay $5/point of score improvement, up to a maximum of $2000 per six week course.
• Tiered structure by topic.
  Each topic has beginner, intermediate, and advanced options. Students can take the course multiple times, and each time select the appropriate difficulty level for each topic.
• Rigorous long term training at an affordable price.
  Students who need major development in their math and reading skills can take the course multiple times, and continuously develop their skills in an uncompromisingly rigorous setting.
• Available flat rate option.
  Students have the option of paying a flat rate of $995 per 6 week course instead of choosing the Pay for Points option.

  Classes are around 20-25 students, with an absolute limit of 29 students.

Logistics

1. To use the flat rate option, the student registers and pays a flat fee of $995.
2. To use the Pay for Points option, the student gives a deposit of $2000, and shows an official College Board Score Report for an official SAT or PSAT. The total score is used as the baseline.
3. After a six week course, the student takes an official SAT. If the student’s score improvement is less than 400 points, he must show the score report, and the appropriate amount will be refunded immediately.
4. The student must maintain a base level during the course. First, students must attend all classes. During the course, five 8 question math quizzes will be given. The exact questions and complete answers will be given a week in advance. The student must get at least 35 out of the 40 math questions completely right. Additionally, students will be given five 20 question vocabulary quizzes. 100 word vocabulary lists will be given a week in advance. Students must maintain a vocabulary quiz average of at least 60%. Finally, students must complete all homework assignments, which will include a full SAT practice test every week. Students should expect about 5-7 hours of homework per week. If a student fails to meet any of these criteria, he will be immediately switched to the flat rate option, and will receive a refund of $1005.
